Tinkering with Technology and Machines
Low tech explorations with circuits and soldering. Old school solutions to new problems. There are more traditional crafts, such as graphic design, that have always caught my eye. But access to a laser cutter definitely does not impede my creative discoveries.
Faced with the fact that there would be no electricity on a kayaking trip in Belize, I decided to take the chance to build my own solar charger. The ability to charge my phone to take photographs was a driver, but the wish to tinker and build something definitely helped too.
Mother's Day is always a tricky holiday; coming up with good presents is always hard for the woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. One year, I got an idea to create a jewelry stand that would be one-of-a-kind.
The frame is laser cut, with a base that was sawcut and sanded. The fabric is made from scraps out of gather here, a wonderful shop in Cambridge.
